Happy Holidays!

Hi 1E,

here are the pictures we took together during your last day of school as a Primary 1 student.

How many friends have you made so far?
Did you learn to work together as a group?

If not, think about what you can do to help improve teamwork.
Remember, we should not just sit back and complain without trying HARD enough.
(:

funny shot

All of you will see each other again next year, in class 2E.

To prepare yourself for next year, do spend some time during your Nov-Dec holidays to learn your Multiplication Table (1-10). Here is a picture to help you get started.

Enjoy your holidays, 1E.
Remember to WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD! =)

Nursery Rhymes

Welcome back, boys and girls!

We have started on our first big book of the term: The Enormous Watermelon.

Here are some familiar nursery rhymes from the storybook:

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown.
And Jill came tumbling after.

Wee Willy Winky

Wee Willy Winky
Wee Willy Winky
Runs through the town,
Upstairs and downstairs
In his nightgown,
Knocking on the window,
Crying through the lock
“Are all the children in their beds?
It’s past eight o’clock.”

Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses,
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider.
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away!

Learning Journey to the Singapore Zoo

On 15 July, our class went on a learning journey to the Singapore Zoo. The students learned about animals in their English lessons. We just finished reading the Big Book "Tall, Short, Big or Small" so the visit was very timely. They were also required to complete a Mathematics Performance Task at the zoo. For this task they were required to work as a group to:

1) Collect and organise data on the zoo animals
2) Create their own animal picture graph

When they returned to class, they interpreted the data based on their picture graphs.
Besides seeing and learning about the many zoo animals, the children were also delighted by the seal's performance at the "Splash Safari" show. We want to say a big "Thank You" to Halim's mother for taking the time off to come along with us as a parent volunteer. She was a great help.

It was a tiring day as we did a lot of walking but it was a fun and memorable day of learning outdoors.

Buddy Leaders

For three days, Primary 4B pupils took care of the Primary 1E pupils during their recess. The leaders helped the lower primary pupils to settle well in school.

P1E pupils acknowledged that their leaders took good care of them. They are now more confident and know what to do during recess (e.g. going to the toilet or library, buying food at the canteen, playing at the parade square, etc).

A big “Thank You” to Primary 4B!

Classroom Decoration

On 8 January , some parents took time off to help in the classroom decoration. The students had a pleasant surprise this morning when they returned to class and saw the transformation. They now have a colourful learning environment.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the parents who have taken their precious time off to help.

A special thanks also goes to our little helpers: Jia Heng and his sister, Chloe, Glen, Halim (and his brother, Ilham), and Fong Yi. Thank you so much.

Best regards,
Mrs Lam

Temperature Taking Exercise

On 7 January, P1E had their first temperature taking exercise in class.
Although it was their first time doing it, the process went smoothly and most of them were able to follow the instructions.

I will be safe keeping the thermometers for the students in class. This will facilitate the next temperature taking exercise.

Thank you.

Introduction

Hi everyone,

I am Mrs Lam, the form teacher of Primary 1E.

I will be teaching your child English, Mathematics and Social Studies.

I am looking forward to know both you and your child better.

I will do my best to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, this cannot be achieved without your assistance. I would need you to partner me in your child’s learning process; guiding your child at home and ensuring that he/she has completed all his/her homework promptly. He/ She will be instructed to jot down all homework for the day in his/her pupil handbook.

Kindly ensure that homework are completed and submitted on time.

I hope to groom your child to be a gracious pupil and a lifelong learner with the zest to excel.

Thank you,
Mrs Lam
